Retained/Professional Search Consulting Services:

Legacy Search Consultants provides a professional Legal recruitment service to a limited number of Law Firm and Accountancy Firm clients with the requirement to identify, attract, recruit and develop Senior Professionals, who will hold critical responsibilities, important to achieving planned and evolving strategies of the client Professional Services Firm. With the recent (or not so recent) pressures on Public Services, we have received requests for assistance from clients within the Education, Social Care and Health Care services. With the recruitment of a former Teacher, we also now provide solutions to the Education Sector.

Through in-depth research, potential candidates are identified and pre-qualified. They are then presented to the client in the form of a “Long List”  prepared by Legacy Search. The “Long List” is assembled, based upon the degree of alignment with a written or verbal Job Specification developed in conjunction with the client.

Assessing degree of potential fit of the candidate with the job specification is a key "deliverable" for us as the most common reason Legacy Search is engaged by a client is to save time, effort and associated costs involved with identifying, qualifying and reviewing potential candidates for specific strategic roles. This particularly applies where the role to be filled requires the skills and expertise of someone who is already successful in his or her specialist field, likely to be well remunerated and not actively seeking a new role.

An added benefit of the research produced, is that the client receives a detailed analysis of those firms and individuals most likely to be practising in similar markets.

Retained Search means that Legacy Search has structured a contract signed by the client defining what will be provided in the way of outcomes and responsibilities for both Legacy Search and the client. We will for example provide details of timescale, reporting schedule and will work to a fixed cost as agreed with the client.

Legacy Search prefers not to conduct search assignments in the mode of some other search firms whereby interim fees are charged by instalments at various stages to reflect benchmarks along the process. Rather, we structure our assignments on a fixed fee basis thus allowing the client to budget accordingly. Our fees are structured thus:

  • An initial retainer on agreement of the assignment. This is the only cost to the client until successful completion of the Search assignment. On receipt of this Legacy Search will conduct the assignment in accordance with the agreement. (We believe this method provides our Consultants with an additional incentive to successfully complete the assignment within the agreed timescale).
  • The balance of the fee becomes payable only when the selected candidate (by the client’s standards) has accepted an offer and commenced employment with the client. (We are happy to agree at the outset, a maximum fee payable, thus ensuring the client knows the exact maximum cost and there exists no dilemma should there be negotiations over the level of remuneration).

The Search Process is highly structured. In retained search, having agreed to pay an initial fee, the client is purchasing the consulting services of a search project, one where Legacy Search ultimately achieves a very clear understanding of what the job entails and how the candidate’s attributes, ambitions and work experience will fit with the client’s aspirations and strategic objectives.

Repeat business and referrals from previous client assignments is our goal. Key to making that happen has been the development of mutual respect and trust from working together on the assignment. As a result, the ability of our Consultants to correctly assess the suitability of the potential candidate is a key skill that the client rightfully should expect and rely upon. We believe that Legacy Search is best evaluated by example of our success rate with clients and candidates alike.

Clearly, our business has evolved around retained search whereby Legacy and our clients commit to each other for a specific project. We are equally adept in acting for clients or individuals on a contingency basis.

Legacy Search has conducted assignments embracing several aspects of legal & other professional practices. For professional and confidentiality reasons, we don’t publish details on here. You may well know us already. If not, we’d be delighted to hear from you.
